Managing categories

In the Bowlr system, Categories belong to a Playing Season. They are simply a way to group and colour-code bookings that are made to the diary.

The same categories can be used from season to season, but they are not related from season to season.

In other words, editing the "Doubles" category in one season will not affect the "Doubles" category of another season.

When creating a new playing season, the previous categories are automatically copied over, to save time.

You can choose whether to use these or edit them. Editing them will not affect the previous seasons.

You can edit categories at any time, but this is likely to cause confusion for other staff and the members and should be handled carefully.

To edit categories, go to Manager on the menu, then Playing Seasons:

Click Categories button on the relevant season:

On the Category edit page, names and colours can be edited for existing categories, these changes will immediately affect any existing bookings in the season.

Click the code next to the category colour sample to reach a colour picker, aim for pastel colours that play nice with the black text:

Use the black row at the bottom to add a new category by entering a name and colour then clicking Save on the bottom right:

The page will refresh and the new Category will be available:
