Bowlr gives clubs some control over how scores for leagues are converted to points for the standings tables.
Bowlr also allows you to create multiple scoring rules in case this differs between leagues within the same club.
When creating a league, clubs must select one of the scoring rules:
Control for these scoring rules are divided into 3 pages on the Manager menu:
- Regular & Subteams
- Sets
- Ends
Regular
Go to Manager > Regular scoring rules
Here you will see a default scoring ruleset and the ability to add a new combination in the blank row at the bottom.
These rules assume 1 overall result is entered for each match.
The results table calculates the standings based on these point conversions.
About Score reduction
This allows you to set the amount of reduction in points a team would receive for example, if a player is missing.
When scores are entered using the Score Input (iPads) or using the Match Details button on the system side, a team can be marked as having a player missing and the reduction is applied to the score before the scores are converted to points.
Reduced scores can be rounded to the nearest whole number, otherwise scores are rounded to the nearest 0.25 i.e. 25.25, 25.50, 25.75.
Set Scoring
The purpose of Set Scoring is to ensure each match has a winner, typically a "best of 3 sets" match is played.
Go to Manager > Set scoring rules
Here you will see a default scoring ruleset and the ability to add a new combination in the blank row at the bottom.
The results table calculates the standings based on these point rules.
When entering results for a match, at least 2 results (one for each set) must be entered. Or 3 results if a tie-break set is played.
- Tie-break (3rd game) should never have a score when 1 team wins first 2 matches or wins 1 and draws 1
- Tie-break score must be entered if each team wins 1 match
- Tie-break score needs to be left blank, not zero, when not played
Score by shots
This option changes the scoring system to be based shot difference, instead of the scoring rules which normally convert a Win, Lose or Draw into a pre-determined quantity of points.
This is based on the shot difference between the 2 teams:
Win by <4 shots = Winner gets 5 points, Loser gets 3 points
Win by 5-9 shots = Winner gets 6 points, Loser gets 2 points
Win by 10-14 shots = Winner gets 7 points, Loser gets 1 points
Win by >14 shots = Winner gets 8 points, Loser gets 0 points
Draw = Both teams get 4 points.
Example
Team A result = 10
Team B result = 7
On Score based on Shots, Team A would get 5 points, and Team B would get 3 points.
A normal scoring system may award Team A just 2 points and Team B would get 0 points.
It is not possible to customise this option.
