A league can be added to the Bowlr system from information stored in a spreadsheet, this method is called Importing a league.
This differs from Copying previous leagues, because it allows for complete editing and manipulation in a spreadsheet program like Microsoft Office Excel, before being added into the system.
In theory, any league is possible using this method.
Previous leagues can be exported and used as a guide for creating a new league. See Exporting leagues.
Template files
Matches and Teams are handled as separate files.
The best way to get a template file is by exporting any previous league from your system.
This option can be found at the bottom of a Fixtures page.
Opening with the CSV file
The CSV files are not spreadsheets themselves, and can and should be temporarily saved as a normal spreadsheet while you are working with them.
These can be opened in Microsoft Excel or similar spreadsheet application.
So after opening the CSV file, go to File -> Save and save a copy in XLS format to a known folder.
It is now safe to revisit the Excel/XLS file and build the league over time if necessary.
Editing the matches
See the article on Editing matches.
Editing the teams
See the article on Editing teams.
Saving the spreadsheets back to CSV
With the CSV file open, go to File -> Save.
This will save/overwrite the CSV.
Importing the CSV files
Back on the Bowlr System. Go to the main Leagues page, then click the green Create new league button on the top right.
You'll see 3 options, choose Import league:
You'll arrive at a page that allows you to select & upload your CSV files, and fill in other league information.
The upload will be successful if all of the data is provided in the correct format. Otherwise, errors will be displayed to help you identify and fix the problems on the spreadsheet and try again.
